Exploring Urban Shapes
As an artist living on Nob Hill in San Francisco, I am inspired daily by the vast views I can see from my rooftop and apartment windows. I can enjoy the city from a distance where the views tend to be less chaotic and more contemplative. Being able to see these vast views, under different lighting, and weather conditions, I find myself inpired to recreate the mood I am feeling at that moment through painting.
Focusing on the beauty in the shapes of the city, such as building structure, roof lines, windows, doorways and shadows ispire me to create new work. I intuitively determine thebalance of color, value and composition to create an overallmood. By using a dominant color with an accent of another instead of using local color, I can create an overall moodand leads the movement of viewer’s eyesfor each painting.
